Retro Movie-Play Misty For Me

Clint Eastwoods directorial debut Play Misty For Me (1971) is a thriller/horror film. A brief fling between a male disc jockey Dave (Eastwood) and an obsessed female fan Evelyn (Jessica Walter) takes a frightening, and perhaps even deadly turn when old flame Tobie (Donna Mills) re-enters the picture.

Smokin hair do's, fashions and music galore feature in this great film including Roberta Flacks cover of 'First Time Ever I Saw Your Face'.
Eastwoods house in the film is one of the coolest pads I have ever seen, with the main rooms adjoining a central retro courtyard, complete with stepping stones and pond.
The film also features quite a lengthy scene showcasing the Monterey Jazz Film festival, which has been running since 1957 and is celebrating its 54th festival in September 2011.

The film was shot almost in its entirity in the Californian seaside town of Carmel, using the local radio station, bars and restaurants to shoot scenes. Eastwood has long made Carmel his home, and was elected Mayor there in 1986.

The movie can be abit hard to find these days in dvd shops etc, but well worth a look if you happen to come by it.
Enjoy!
